The Brussels museums make their COME♡BACK during a long weekend with endless feel good activities! From Thursday 1 through Sunday 4 October artists and cultural organisations will pitch their tents in 40 Brussels museums to wipe out the difficult days of 2020 by means of a secure, comforting, relaxing and most of all positive program! More than 70 activities are planned!

The War Heritage Institute/Royal Military Museum of course participates and presents you with a varied program on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 October.

The visit/workshop “Point of view: framing” makes it possible to discover the new temporary exhibition “Snapshots – Echoes of Silence” in an original way.

Artist Luc Mary-Rabine unveils the way in which he chooses to frame his images. The idea is to learn how to look, to take the time to analyse an image, be that camera in hand or when merely watching a print.

Participants can then engage in a workshop. With their own cameras and in the company of the artist and/or the curator participants will wander through the collections in order to approach the items in an artistic way. They will learn how to frame their images and how to play with light and shadows to obtain the best results. (Presence of the artist conditional to the sanitary situation. The visit/workshop “Fashion breaks free” puts the work of the 6th year Bischoffsheim Institute “Clothing” section students centre stage. They collaborated with the Museum all through the school year 2019-2020.

After a quick retrospective on fashion in times of war based on the collections in “War. Occupation. Liberation” the students will present their own creations inspired by a personal approach of the theme of liberation. A creative workshop will round things up. On Saturday 3 October at 8 p.m. the Museum will welcome the Jonas Veirman Trio for an almost private concert in the very heart of our collections. All activities are accessible upon reservation. In that way, both social distancing and the intimate aspect of the program can be guaranteed. 

Practical information:

Venue: all activities take place at the Royal Military Museum, Parc du Cinquantenaire 3 in 1000 Brussels. Meeting 15 minutes before the start of each activity at the main reception desk. For the Jonas Veirman Trio concert on Saturday 3 October at 8 p.m. doors will open at 6:45 p.m. in order to enable participants to visit the “Inter-war”, “Second World War” and “War. Occupation. Liberation” sections before the concert.

Fees for each activity: 8 euros for adults; 4 euros for children; 1,25 euro for Article 27 beneficiaries, to be paid upon registration on the site.

For the framing workshop participants have to bring their own cameras (analogue, digital or smartphone) and if possible take a tripod.
